The domain name, CarnegieLibrary.US, is one of a compliment of names acquired for CarnegieLibraries.Net, a historic preservation effort begun in October, 2004 to provide technical and logistical assistance to citizen efforts seeking to preserve the more than 2500 historic Carnegie Libraries throughout the United States and worldwide. >/p>
The site is hosted by PittsburghFree.Net, which was established in May, 2004 to provide free webhosting services to community oriented efforts after the cancellation of the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh's Three Rivers Free-Net left scores of organizations stranded and in need.
