Another Example of Carnegie Library Providing Library Service to City Residents as Agency of the City of Pittsburgh

In 1959, the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Allegheny wished Carnegie Library to extend library services to residents of Allegheny County who lived outside of the City of Pittsburgh. Such an arrangement required the approval of the Mayor and Council of the City of Pittsburgh, which was granted with this resolution:

"No. 166

"Whereas, On April 28, 1959, the County of Allegheny and the Board of Trustees of the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh executed an Agreement which provides for continuing the extension of library services to all residents of Allegheny County and

"Whereas, The said Agreement is, by its terms, subject to approval by the Mayor and the Council of the City of Pittsburgh;

"Now, Therefore, Be it resolved that the Mayor, by approval of this Resolution and the Council of the City of Pittsburgh, by passage of this Resolution, do hereby approve the Agreement, dated April 28, 1959, by the County of Allegheny and the Board of Trustees of the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, which provides for continuing the extension of library services to residents of Allegheny County.
